Water in the Desert

I wanted to share some images of our hike out to Hackberry Springs a week ago. Amanda, myself and our friend Palmyre made the 3.5-hour trek in hopes of seeing some of the recent rain puddled up in the bedrock "tanks" along this trail. We were amazed to find instead a rushing, flowing, bubbling stream! (what we in Arizona usually call a river). The dry, dusty trail that we had hiked on just last November was submerged under nearly 5 feet of water in some places! The water gushed through the rock in white flumes, and sculpted the silt and sand into beautiful ripples. If you haven't been out to the Superstitions to see this seasonal influx of water, now's the time!
