Arizona Spring Wildflower Bloom 2015 at Peridot Mesa

Amanda and I anticipate the arrival of spring every year, with the hope that the normally drab Sonoran desert might green up and explode with color. Most years the wildflowers are modest at best, but every decade or so we get just the right amount of rain and cooler weather to lay the foundation for a great spring bloom. 2015 has been one of the best Arizona wildflower years (in our opinion anyways) in quite a while. We found these gorgeous fields of Mexican gold poppies on 3/7/15, at Peridot Mesa, on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. (Make sure you purchase a recreation permit, which is sold at the nearby Bashas.) Walking among these swaying flowers was definitely a sublime way to pass a Saturday afternoon!
